The Ninth Sustainability Summit for SE Europe & the Mediterranean

On October 13th and 14th, 2025, the Ninth Sustainability Summit for South-East Europe & the Mediterranean, organized by Economist Impact, took place at the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso in Kavouri, Athens, under the theme “Seeking a new balance amidst a derailed green transition.”
The Hellenic–Spanish Chamber of Commerce is pleased to highlight the participation of one of its members, Helena Athoussaki, head of ESG, Sustainability and Climate Change at Motor Oil Group, as a speaker in the panel “Decarbonisation: Can Greece lead the way in Europe?” The discussion explored Greece’s progress in implementing its decarbonisation strategy, its impact on the economy and employment, and the potential for Greece to become a model for Europe in this field.
From growing challenges to global climate policy, the summit convened international leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts to explore how nations and industries can navigate a complex transition towards a greener economy. Discussions addressed the European Union’s role in maintaining climate leadership while preserving competitiveness, the evolving dynamics of global trade, and the influence of artificial intelligence, energy security, and democratic governance on the climate agenda.
This high-level dialogue underscored the need for renewed cooperation and innovation to achieve a sustainable balance.
