On Thursday, November 11, 2021, the Hellenic-Spanish Chamber of Commerce had the honor and pleasure to welcome the Minister of Tourism Dr. Vassilis Kikilias, in the first, after the pandemic, event with a physical presence. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Spain Mr. Enrique Viguera as well as the Commercial Attaché of Spain Mr. Jorge Andreu.
Mr. Kikilias referred to the very promising intentions shown by the touristic markets towards the Destination Greece.
In his speech, the Minister stated that as early as October 2021, there is a 30% increase in bookings for 2022, compared to the corresponding month of 2019, before the pandemic. Revenues from Tourism for 2021 show a much larger increase than expected and will be announced soon. In addition, Dr. Vassilis Kikilias referred to a series of investments for tourism that took place in 2021 with the partnership of foreign and Greek companies.
Finally, Dr. Vassilis Kikilias spoke about the similarities of the two folks Spanish and Greeks and how much this can help bring Spanish investments to Greece. It was also mutually agreed to create a communication platform between Greek-Spanish Chamber and the ministry, where the members of the Chamber will be able to share ideas and suggestions for both the reduction of bureaucracy as well as the strengthening of incoming tourism by Spain and Latin American countries.
The event took place at the Radisson Blue Hotel with the support of the hotel itself as well as the company Rokas Renewables- Iberdrola.
